Cars Safe from Computer Viruses

BBC has an article on the recent Symbian viruses and how they can infect can’t infect your car. F-Prot conducted tests to check if the recent reports about the virus infecting Lexus cars are true or not.

Makes you wonder why people come up with such ideas. How can a virus that runs on Symbian infect a non-Symbian OS without carrying a packaged version of itself for the target platform?. However, I must add that what is now an urban legend (?) may one day become reality.

It’s unbelievable. Cars and Symbian mobile phones have nothing simillar so how can the virus infect it?

    Caress,

There are a growing number of cars running all sorts of OSes, one of them being Microsoft Windows Embedded (it can be found in more machines than you might think!). Some examples include: BMW 7 series, Ford, Citroen, Daimler, Fiat, Volvo, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Subaru and Toyota. Cars have become more than just machines that take us from point A to point B :-)
